Dr. Abha Rao is a faculty member at the Ramalingaswami Centre on Equity and Social Determinants of Health, Public Health Foundation of India.
She is a social scientist with interdisciplinary training in family studies, human development, and medical anthropology, and has nearly 2 decades of work, research, and teaching experience in these areas. Her recent research involved maternal and child health interventions in rural Karnataka, India, and current research examines the health issues of temporary women migrant construction workers, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and disrespect and abuse during labour and delivery.
