Sono

Sono (she/her) works at Preston-Werner Ventures in San Francisco as the Program Manager for Public Health, specializing in advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) globally through various investment strategies. Sono has made SRHR her life work since 1988, serving in various program implementation and management roles in non-profit organizations in her native country Japan and in the US. She also served as a global grantmaker at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation for over a decade. She is an accomplished champion and author of a variety of publications for inter-disciplinary reproductive health, women’s economic empowerment, environmental conservation and climate resilience programs in East Africa that are designed to serve local communities’ immediate needs, while contributing to national strategies towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Sono has degrees from Harvard University and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
